Puma Lothar Matthäus. Made in west Germany
Extremely rare original pair of PUMA L. Matthäus football boots, reference 1440, dating from the 1980s and preserved in unworn condition.
A model associated with legendary German footballer Lothar Matthäus, one of the players most closely linked historically with PUMA and the PUMA King family.
Made in West Germany, they feature the classic construction of professional football boots from the era: black leather upper, white PUMA Formstrip, gold-stamped “PUMA L. MATTHÄUS” branding, and a white sole with six removable screw-in studs.
This particular pair is especially appealing to collectors, as it remains brand new and unworn (New Old Stock / deadstock) and comes with its original period PUMA box, whose label identifies the model as “1440 L. MATTHAUS”, together with the original stud wrench.
An exceptional piece of European football history and PUMA sporting heritage, representing the period in which Matthäus became one of the biggest names in German football.
