The adidas Etrusco Unico Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games is one of the rarest and most sought-after pieces in the world of historic football collecting. This special edition was never commercially released, having been manufactured by adidas Spain (Zaragoza) at the request of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) for the exclusive use of the football tournament at the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games.
Used only in matches played at the tournament's three host venues — Barcelona, Valencia and Zaragoza — it shares the same technical specifications, materials and manufacturing standards as the official match ball of UEFA Euro 1992, one of adidas' most iconic designs.
Its exceptional rarity stems from the fact that production was intended solely for Olympic competition, with very few examples surviving to the present day. As a result, it is regarded as one of the most difficult Olympic footballs to acquire on the international collectors' market.
The present example boasts an outstanding provenance. It was one of the unused balls remaining from the Valencia venue, at the historic Luis Casanova Stadium, and was preserved for more than three decades by a former member of the Olympic organizing committee. Thanks to this careful preservation, it remains in excellent condition, making it a true museum-quality piece that combines Olympic history, exclusivity and adidas' renowned technical excellence.
